From the pro leagues of the NFL to the college baseball diamond our athletes from the Evergreen State have given the sports world some of the craziest, weirdest and just plain old head-scratching moments:
- Mariners Lenny Randle got very creative with the rules of baseball in one regular season game when he tried to push a ball over the foul line not with his glove or his hand but by blowing on the ball as hard as he could
- Former Mariners pitcher Randy Johnson holds the record for being the tallest player ever to play in the majors
- Before the Seattle Seahawks could play their first franchise game in 1976, tragedy struck when the owner suddenly died of a heart attack
- In 1977, the Seahawks hold the top pick in the NFL draft but traded it to the Dallas Cowboys who then used it to select Tony Dorsett who went on to a Hall of Fame career--what a bad trade
